  1. A melting could release DDT and other nasty man made chemicals that settled as snow a few decades ago, before they were banned. Glaciers also raise sea levels when they melt but this wont happen this century, most of the sea level rise we are experiencing now is caused by the oceans getting warmer and expanding. Lastly, some glaciers are important sources of fresh water, such as those in the southern Himalayas. Without Glaciers, people in India will have less water.

  2. A lot of scientists believe that there are advantages and disadvantages of the meting glaciers.  For sure, there will be areas that will be submerged because of the rise in sea level but on the other hand there will be new areas that will be opened (where glaciers melted) where plants and animals can grow and live.

  3. Melting glaciers are bad for the environment, the more melting the oceans will rise and soon islands and coasts of states would be underwater. and the mixture of cold and warm water would result in strong hurricanes suck like Katrina. Glaciers melt over time to provide us with fresh water for drinking. But the Eath is getting to hot.

  4. Mostly it's a bad thing.Apart from the fact it destroys the natural beauty and environment of the area, it also poses a threat to low-lying land and islands.Did you know that if the oceans rise by three feet, most of the pacific Islands will disappear. Also Holland will eventually be swallowed by water. The advantages? Only that the land beneath the glacier usually is rich in minerals.
