is milk of magnesia natural? i've been really constipated for about the past month out of no where, so i've been drinking a glass of prune juice once every few days, it works, but i'm out now and kinda low on cash, but i do have some milk of magnesia from a while back, my question is, is it natural? because i've heard using laxatives over a long period of time can ultimately weaken my system, and i don't want to do that. and i plan to go to the doctor, just been really busy getting registered for classes, and full time job, and what not.

and i have been drinking nothing but water, and havent changed my eating habits.

The best thing for your constipation problems is epsom salt.  Buy some it's cheap and last a lot longer than prunes and it works quicker too, just follow the directions on it.  It's very natural.  The only thing with laxatives is it can have a tendency to deplete you of potassium and make you dehydrated and deplete you of a few other vitamins so just take a vit pill and eat some fruits and you'll be ok.

  3. Milk of magnesia is more natural than some things you could use. It is fine for occasional use. BUT ALL laxatives, even Senna tea, are sort of "addictive" in that your intestinal system will become accustomed to waiting for the stimulant before moving. And it doesn't take long, just a few days of habitual use.

    What you need is cheap or free: 1) Fiber, 2) Water, 3) Exercise. The fibrous foods are not expensive. Raw veggies, oatmeal, beans, peas, lentils, fruit with the peeling. If you can't get enough from your diet, add psyllium seeds, flax seeds, apple pectin. Start your morning with 1/4 cup lemon juice in a cup of hot water. Drink 2x as much water as you're getting now. And walk in place when you're working or studying.
