Question:

Is the mineral "Blue John" worth much these days???

I was recently left quite a large collection of it, apparently its quite scarce now.......any ideas on value???

  1. Remember that it is not a world wide mineral there are similar deposits in the same basic mineral but BLUE JOHN is unique to England and ,therfore will become more valuable because I do not think there are any large deposits left ,so do not sell only in small quantities try not to be talked into selling it in bulk.because it will not fluctuate like Gold or similar world wide minerals , it may not be in the same league price wise but in the future it will get more expensive.


  2. It is fluorite, I believe it is not a costly mineral.

    Some collector of mineral species  ar if the size is big enough for producing carvings etc. it might fetch you good price.

  3. erm.. well ive been in a blue john cavern in derbyshire and the person that guided us round said that it was worth loads

  4. why not try to contact one of the shops in castleton the peak district uk.

  5. You need to contact an Auctioner, lots of them in yellow pages or online in your area.

  6. Loads, especially in the current economic climate. There is only one source and production is limited. Lucky you!
