  1. It would need ALOT of exersise. But if it gets the right amount of exersise, I guess it would be pretty cool.

  2. i have heard that akita's are not the friendliest dogs so i would be kind of carefull

  3. Its a mix.. it could have the traits of either breed.

I dont know much about Akitas, but I do know a little about Huskies.

If you're wanting a "loyal" dog.. then I'd avoid huskies or husky mixes.  They are very independant and will want to do their own thing.  They are not eager to please, unless they think they are getting something out of it!  They are escape artists and are not trustworthy offleash.

This mix could have the husky temperment.. or it could have the Akita temperment

  4. Both dogs required strong leadership.  Akita's are big, strong, and every single one I've met has been frighteningly dog aggressive.  Not that they all are, but none of the owners I've met could handle them.

Huskies are similar in that without strong leadership, they can become bossy and dominant.

With a mix you have no idea which traits you're going to encounter... and not to mention a mix won't have the genetic thought put into the pairing that a dog should have.  You might end up with a teddy bear, or an aggressive dangerous monster.  There's no way to tell.

  5. Do you know the temperaments and the breed standard for both types of dogs? If your getting a mixed dog, which I am guessing you found some puppies of this mix for sale or free, cause I have seen a ton of Husky/Akita questions on here tonight. Then you need to know that Akita's are guard dogs. They are highly intelligent, but stubborn and hard to train. They are both LARGE, and muscular dogs, HIGHLY energetic, and high maintenance. I dont suggest this dog for you if you never had dogs before, or dont have a active lifestyle that can be devoted to training and care of this Mixed breed dog.

  6. The Husky has a tendency to roam, and the Akita is not always dog friendly.  Both can be independent thinkers and not easily trained.  Both breeds have thick coats that SHED.  They would need someone that would be a strong pack leader, willing to do a lot of grooming, and make sure the dog got proper socialization and training.

  7. These are working dogs that need activity to keep them from being destructive.  They do not like hot weather/climates.  Akita's can swing either way, super sweet or suspicious and snappy.

  8. Huskes are suppose to be really energetic, and from what i've heard akitas are suppose to be like attack dogs... they dont really get along with other doggies. I met a guy at a dog park and he had one, it was awesome looking and he spent like a 1,000 dollars on getting the aggression toward other dogs trained out of it. read about both breeds before getting one!

oh and if you want a loyal dog, get a blue heeler.... i have one and she is loyal to death!!!!!!!!
