  1. No *sigh* its a cheese :P

  2. No. The moon is a satellite of Earth. The sun is a star.

  3. In order to be a star, an object in space must be massive enough to undergo nuclear fusion (not sure if fission also counts).  Stars are nuclear furnaces. The Earth's Moon is a type of object called a moon (moons were named, obviously, after the Moon, thus the redundancy).  Moons are natural satellites of a planet.  They are typically made of rock and are locked in orbit around a planet.  Planets and their moons orbit stars.

  4. No. The Sun is.

It does not have the properties of a star.

    It does not generate energy.

It does not give off it's own light, the only reason the moon is visible is because of reflected light from the sun.

  5. 'officially', no, but it IS a star anyway because looking at the moon from another planet, it will look just like a star

  6. The sun is.

  7. The Moon is what is known as a planetoid, that being a solid object that is just smaller than a normal planet.  The Sun is a G class star, a star is recognised as a gas body with a solar system or proto system (what you find in Nova)

    Hope this helps

  8. The moon is classified as a natural satellite of the Earth because it orbits our planet. However, the Sun is our closest star which we orbit.

  9. The sun is, I think moons have there own category.

  10. The moon is a satelite not a star nor a planet. A satellite would be an object that orbits a planet.

  11. NO!!! The moon is a natural satellite.

  12. not at all. moon s a natural satellite to the earth. rather i can say, it failed to form as a planet after the big bang..

  13. the moon isn't a star.

yes, the sun is a star, infact the sun is the closest star to earth

  14. the moon is a moon.

in fact it is part of the earth.

  15. sun is, moon isn't.

  16. I'm just gonna come right out and say what everyone else is thinking... This is a stupid question...

    PHEW! *sigh of relief*

Sorry, I just needed to get that off my chest... I don't usually call a question stupid, but I been penting up some of my frustrations on Answers for awhile now.

As any science class will tell you a star is a ball of hydrogen that produces heat by fusing hydrogen atoms into helium atoms... The Moon is not a giant ball of hydrogen... therefore it is not a star... it is a moon.

The Sun IS a star as it is a ball of hydrogen that produces heat via fusion.

Sorry about my rudeness earlier on, this question just struck me as one iota stupider than I could take... and that is saying something because I have answered a lot of 2012 questions before without snapping.

  17. The Moon is not a star, the Sun is.

  18. nope, its a natural satellite, a piece of rock created when an asteroid crashed into earth years ago, the gas and debris from this impact coascealed (spelling?) and became the moon.

the sun is a star of course however

and lol if you were asking this question for a laugh then thats cool... sorry if this answer is to nerdy and serious.

  19. no

  20. I think so and so is the Sun

  21. Our moon is not a star. In fact, it is classified as a "moon", or a planet's satellite (not like the artificial ones we send into space).

The sun is a star, our closest star. The next closest star is Proxima Centauri, which is very very very far away.

  22. the Moon Is a satellite of the Earth and orbits around it
