No it's not really a classic.  Not even in it's genre.  There has been way more funny "s*x comedies." American Pie was just plain funny.

the american pie series i know of is a mindless s*x comedy. american pie is also a song, which is a classic and i absolutely love it.

The first one was good.  All the sequels sucked.  I wouldn't call it a classic.  Maybe a classic in the genre of retarded movies.

Maybe of the 90's, maybe...but on the same level as Sunset Boulevard or Casablanca and other such movies? No way.
