  1. The brothers Grimm, writters of many fairly tales, are invited to a castle where they met an old noble lady who narrates them the "true story" an ancestor of she who was the person from where the stories they pickup and rearrange as the fairly tale "Cinderella".  Stories that they were unable to verify because there where too many versions of it.

I said "true story" because the whole movie is fiction, Danielle de Barbarac (Drew Barrymore's character) is fictional.

  2. As a fan of the Renaissance period and of Renaissance music, I loved the film and Drew; But, no, it is not based on a true story.

  3. It is based on the fairy tale of Cinderella.  In the beginning of the movie, you see The Brothers Grimm receiving a corrected story of the one they wrote, but in real life, they were the ones who made it up.

Unfortunately it's not based in reality, although it would basically rock if it were.

  4. No, it is an updated version of Cinderella. I love it.
