Is the movie "the African Queen" racist? it was made in 1951, but is it racist to watch this movie?

At out community group, we have seen several movies. "The African Queen" is the only one I have not seen. Someone recently complained that we were discriminatory, and mentioned the movies we've chosen.

The African Queen was the name of the boat they were travelling on.

I don't remember racism in the movie, although there may have been. It was about some white people getting dramatic in the jungle on the boat.

Also there is nothing wrong with watching movies even if they contain racism. It helps you to learn about the culture of the time.

who said it is racist? unless, you look upon black leeches sucking the life out of a white guy, and he burns them away.. jeez sometimes a movie is just a movie

I've never seen the movie and can't say whether it expresses racist views, but it is never racist just to watch something, so long as you recognize that the opinions in the movie may be racist and you do not agree with them.
