I'm looking to retrain, and think this might be the way for me. I'm just not sure there is as much a gap in skills as these places say. I hope I'm wrong...plumbers, are you tearing your hair out because there is too much work for you and you can't get the staff?

  1. The plumbing shortage? This was a few years ago, like all trades there is work around, but now many plumbers have sprung up to fill the gaps, Some from eastern Europe.

Electricians are new new shortage. As the new rules covering 'part P' only allow (UK) qualified electricians to do electrical work.  Hence the shortage, people cant just fly over and work.

Note, many school leavers now know, doing a course to learn a trade is as respected as going to university and will lightly get them a better job.

Hence, trade courses are full now days.

If you need training then you will be competing with thousands  of school leavers and people from Eastern Europe.

If you are ready to go with your skills and up to speed etc. Why not give it a go.

    (Plumber, Carpenter & Electrician).

  2. Believe me, there's plenty of work out there, my son is working 7 days a week, 9 hours a day, and the money is SSSUUUPPPEEERRRBBB

  3. I`m in the North East there is a big shortage of all skills here...hence we are being invaded by the Polish trades men.
