Question:

Is the muzzle law for all dogs still in effect in Geneva?

I read that such a law was temporarily in effect in 2006, but do not know if it still is. I am moving to or near Geneva, and I have a friendly, 11-year old miniature schnauzer. I will not take him to Geneva if this law still is in effect, and will live on the French side instead...where I HOPE such laws do not exist! Any information, as well as recent eye-witness sitings of muzzled or unmuzzled small dogs and/or leashed or unleashed dogs in or around Geneva would be much appreciated!

    BASICALLY:

By a 65% majority, Genevans voted to completely ban so-called 'dangerous' dogs, and to require owners of all dogs over 25 kilos to obtain a permit in order to keep their dogs.

This would likely supersede the law put into effect last June which required owners of listed dogs to report their dogs and obtain a permit, as well as made training classes obligatory for all dog owners.

It is expected that it will take a year for this newest law to come into force.
