Question:

Is the name Clover a huge no-no to name a girl?

I've recently fallen head-over-heels in love with the name Clover for a girl. I was looking through a few old books from my grandparents' collection a few weeks ago and came across a book called "What Katy Did".

If anyone is familiar with it, you know that one of the characters is named Clover... and if you're unfamiliar with it, now you know. I got to thinking and felt it was a really cute name on a girl, and not that bad, but I might be crazy. It's really different from my usual taste, which is strictly traditional, but I really love it.

I thought it really flowed nicely with the middle name Jane. Clover Jane. What do you think?

Do you think it's that bad? And if so, why?

  1. I think it's bad...I don't think any little girl would want to be named Clover when she'll be going to school with girls with beautiful names: Alexa's, Gabriella's, Liliana's, Aubrey's, Amelia's

  2. I think it's a bit ... too unique. Do you think she will be happy with the name Clover as a teenager? Right now it sounds very cute, but what about later on?

Why not using it as a middle name?

    Jane Clover

    Elisabeth Clover

    Lucille Clover

    Olivia Clover

    Amelia Clover

I actually fell in LOVE with the name Luke, the same way you fell in love with Clover :) Lol (book is called Among the Hidden)

  3. I have never heard of the name Clover for a girl. It is actually very cute, unusual but not over the top weird. I love it paired with Jane because it balances it out (uncommon with common). I'd say use it!

  4. It's awful for a child.  But it's great for a horse or other pet, and that's the first thing I thought of.

A long time ago there was a name Clovis for women--it wasn't that popular either.

  5. i think Clover is a perfectly fine girl name.

    i love usual names

  6. It's very unique. I personally don't think I would choose it but it is a cute name and if you love it, go for it!

  7. I'm not a huge fan of that name but Clover Jane isn't awful, I just wouldn't name my daughter that. If it suits your taste, then by all means go right ahead

  8. i like it plus clovers symbolize luck

  9. Reminds me of butter: "Roll it over, in the clover".

I think it sounds more like the name of a pet bunny. I wouldn't use this on a human being. It doesn't sound very nice anyway.

  10. Its very original, and nobody will have that name. I like it, but I also like the other suggestion of switching the names around to Jane Clover.

  11. I think it's great. Beautiful name.

  12. I love the sound of this name too

Its different but not over the top

I think its sweet and pretty and sounds perfect with Jane

    xx

  13. I think with a very typical middle name like Jane, it's a good name.  It give the uncommon 1st name balance.  If you love it and she looks like a Clover when you meet her, go for it.

  14. lol No it really isn't bad at all. In fact it's beautiful, it's original, she won't have 50 other girls at her school with the same name, and it speaks to your personality. If YOU think it is a beautiful name for YOUR daughter then you have every right to name her that. Besides if she ends up not liking it when she's older, you've obviously thought of a great middle name to fall back on. Besides you could always nickname her different things. My daughter's name is Kyla but we call her kiki alot. But honestly clover is a breath of fresh air after all these bull c**p names I've been hearing lately. I think you've made an excellent choice. And it's a good story to tell her when she's older.

  15. I do not think it is bad.  If you love the name go for it.  I wouldnt choose it to name my daughter as it is not my style of name, but that doesnt mean you shouldnt.  Good Luck(:

  16. Yes, that is a huge no-no.  So are names like Cinnamon, Lexus, Apple, and Tyger.  Don't do that to your child, she'll get made fun of and hate you for naming her that.  Clover and those trendy names just scream "trailer trash" to me.

  17. its a cows name, here in uk,they name cows and goats clover

  18. It's sort of a cute name, but at the same time, it's not very feminine or mature. It would be adorable for a girl, but not so great for a woman, if you get what I'm saying. Also it sounds sort of like a name for a horse. I would name her Jane Clover if I were you.
