Is the new Suzuki GSX650F a good choice for a person who already knows how to ride?

I currently ride a 1200 HD Sportster and I am looking to get a sportier bike. I test drove the 650F and I like its upright seating position. Will I out grow a 650 too fast?

  1. It's an awesome bike. On a GSX, a decent rider will keep up with the big sports bikes on the road because it's got an easy riding position, forgiving suspension and enough power to hold its own. It will also tour comfortably. Basically if you like things like the VFR and the Triumph Sprint, the Suzuki is the same sort of thing, but a bit smaller and a lot cheaper. It's also arguably a lot better looking, styled along the lines of the GSX-R.

Will you outgrow it? Only you can answer that!

The old GSX600F was a decent sports tourer with odd (horrible) styling. Every journalist hated it because compared to the latest hot 600s it was crude and down on power. On the road though, it was a very competent machine and owners (I never had one, but I ride with people who had them) were very happy with them.

Think Skoda - not the best image, but if you just wanted a great car you didn't go wrong.

The new 650 puts right all the things that were perceived to be wrong with the 600. Even the journalists rave about it. I reckon it won't be long before it is recognised as an exceptional all rounder.
