Is the new cafe smoking ban generally ignored in parts or all of France?

  1. The rules are generally being followed. Thank god I can now eat my favourite ice-cream dessert without tasting tobacco!


  2. Just came back from Brittany where a locals were smoking in a small bar that does not serve food.

    Went to a meal at local hall smokers were all outside.

    The  French government backed down because they already upset a lot of people lately and they don't need bartenders and clients to be mad as well, the  bar and restaurant association that represents about 80,000 French businesses  bar bistro, cafe restaurant  opposes a smoking ban.

  6. The ban is generally observed throughout France.  As an earlier answer indicates, there is no longer the smell of stale ashtrays.  However, that smell no longer disguises serious BO.  The legislators should have implemented something about people having to wash.

  7. The ban is going very well and is being obeyed generally. People are getting used to it, those who want to smoke go outside, be it in the offices, the restaurants, the night clubs or the cafes. It is now a pleasure to enter a cafe.
