The chances of being gunned down by an illegal immigrant are not as likely as being gunned down by an american citizen, it is actually more likely to be gunned down by an american than an illegal immigrant. Ignorance is not a good trait to have, most immigrants come here to work and support thier families, because if you dont remember very well pretty much all of south america are 3rd world countries. Which means most of the time they do not eat everyday, they do not have clean water, or shoes, or proper restrooms, or education, or shelter, must i continue? Those comercials you see, the ones with the children walking on the street drinking nasty water are the real deal. Why would someone with family suffering in such conditions waste thier time "gunning down americans on the street" while they could be providing all the things for thier family they wouldnt have otherwise? Because 5 dollars for you is 100 for them. How would you feel if someone assumed that (your parents went to another country to provide a better life for you) were there to commit only crime?
