Hello everyone

I was wondering if the news was broadcasted live or is it a pre recording?

I live in Australia by the way. Perhaps news is broadcasted differently here?

Thanks.

  1. I'm not in Australia, but I'll tell you what I can.

Most of the time the news is live.  There can be pre-taped elements like a story or two.  There are things called Looklives.  At the station I work at the evening anchor appears at 5am on the morning show as a pre-taped element.  He does two stories that we recorded after our last evening newscast.

It's advantageous for the news to be live.  They can make sure that they have the latest information.  If something happens during the newscast they can send someone right out to get a live report as it's happening.  It's part of what makes tv news differnt that a newspaper.  The newspaper is printed at set times and everything has to be finished before it's printed.  Live on TV they can get you information on things that are happening right now.  They can get someone out at a fire and they can tell you what is known right then and if something new is learned while you're watching they can tell you that before the show is over.
