Is the number "23" really that magical?

I just watched the movie "The Number 23" and this movie really explained how the number 23 is associated in the world. Do you think that the number 23 is really that magical in the world.

I admit it was a Fun movie to watch... but, I think it is more about Carey's Obsession and his interpretation, of the importance of the number 23 - than it is about the Truth that that number has in math; and whatever we perceive in reality.

Sometimes WE have the vulnerability to get obsessed. when we start to see what appears to be "patterns." -- and we also have the tendency to fill-in the blanks with "what if" theories...

Someone started a idiotic rumor when THEY divided 2/3 and got .666repeating ( duh )

don't we also call two-thirds 67%

Other than that, I've never seen ANY books on the subject and I am a Math Freak -- There are a lot of great books on trying to figure-out the pattern and possible reason for Prime Numbers...

It is not difficult to play the numerology game.  You can take any number and, through mathematical manipulation, make it seem as if it has special powers.  Playing such games have kept the mystics busy for centuries.

when i first saw that movie, i counted up all the letters in my name just to see if maybe, just maybe, they equalled twenty-three. i got to twenty and was freaking out. but luckily it stopped at twenty-two, aha. yeah seriously, right there at twenty-two. so i was one letter away from being a psycho-paranoid head case. anyway, ive yet to find anything to make that number so "magical." it makes for a good movie though, i enjoyed it.

I LOVED that movie...i also have an obsession with numbers...We dont choose the numbers, they choose us...

It doesnt have to be number 23...Its different for different people..Alot of people start noticing the same number in their lives..A certain number attaches itself to a person..For me its 3,s..>>> 33... I never used to take notice of numbers through out my life, but my favourite number was always 3 and 23..for no reason....Then in 2003 i had a major spiritual experience with the number 333...and it changed my whole out look at certain things in my life...Then followed by an event that happened on the 3 - 3 - 03..(funny enough).. then i started noticing the same number had been with me, through property numbers, my date of birth, special dates when major events took place in my past (lucky i kept a diary)... I then started looking at other peoples numbers and the same thing happened to them, but with a different number....hes a little example of one person i knew......

A friend of the family was born on the 7th... he lived in one house most of his life, which was number 52..and 52 adds up to 7...he died on the 7th, at the age of 70....(thats just the short version of his 7,s)

The number 23 is not magical, just certain people are attached to a certain number...23 actually represents death..proberly why they died in the movie......

the number 23 is only magical to the guy in that movie. It doesn't sound like you quite "got" it (pardon, I mean no offense, I actually sense you wondering/asking), but they explained in the movie the number was magical to him because of what had happened in the past. He saw it everwhere because his subconscious wanted him to see it.

23 is magical? Thats a new one to me. Ive heard people say 11:11 is magical, and that 4:20 is a good time to smoke pot, 7 is lucky in dice, and 8 is lucky in asia, and 666 is evil in christianity.

However, its all superstitious nonsense.
