  1. Yes it is all files and the os are stored on your hard drive.


  2. Yes, the OS is stored in the first sectors in your hard disk. Most people assume that everytime you save something or install something it will be recorded according to when you added that file/program. But in reality, it does not work that way.

    Food for thought: The OS is stored in the first 3-4GB of your hard disk. If you have many OS (even if you install them in different drives), it will still be stored in this sectors.

    When you open your computer, the instruction code of your OS gets transferred to your RAM. Again, a portion of your RAM supports your OS while your computer is running. This is so that it will not take much time for the microprocessor to get the OS instructions for specific things like the scheduling algorithms, etc.

  3. Yes. They used to be burned into memory back in the days when OSs weren't as complicated, but this made them hard to update.

  4. yes along with all of the other programs that are installed on your computer.
