  1. You can tell your break fluid tub as it will have pipes leading from it that are rigid and small and will have a big round thing like a cake tin near it...this is your break servo!!

    your engine coolant will be a half filled (when cold) tank that should be clear near one of the wings!..never overfill it as it expands with water as your motor gets hot and never open it uness its cold as you may burn or scold yourself!

  2. Your brake fluid reservoir would be small (1 pint to 1 quart) and located on the firewall of the engine compartment on the drivers side (directly in front of where you sit).  The cap on top would be labeled either dot 3 or dot 4 brake fluid only.  This reservoir would be attached to the top of metal cylinder with several metal lines coming out of it if you were to trace them they would all run to your wheels.  Brake fluid is a yellowish clear fluid that will slowly turn brown.  If rubbed between you fingers it will have an oily feel to it.

    The coolant reservoir would normally be located somewhere on the passenger side above the wheel well.  It is much larger than your brake fluid reservoir. It would probably be near the firewall but could also be near the front of the engine compartment.  It's cap would be labeled with antifreeze(this could be a name such as dexcool) only.  The side of the reservoir would have a mark for full hot and full cold.  There should be one rubber hose coming from the bottom of the reservoir that attaches into the coolant system at some point.  Antifreeze can come in many different colors but will often turn orange red then brown with age (as a result of corrosion).  If rubbed between your fingers it may be slightly slippery compared to water but will not feel like oil.

    If the reservoir is stained an orangish color it is likely coolant but never assume before dumping in a fluid.

  3. Pink/Orange is normally engine coolant.

    Ja.

  4. check your car manual for location of the bottle

  5. If the bottle is located at the back wall, close to the windscreen, it is most likely the brake fluid. If it is located close to the front of the car it is most likely engine coolant.

    Newer break fluids are almost clear while others are yellow.

    Engine coolant is also referred to as antifreeze.

    Most commercial antifreeze formulations include corrosion inhibiting compounds, and a colored dye (commonly a green, red or blue fluorescent) to aid in identification.

  6. On VW / Audi, the coolant is pink / orange.  On some newer American cars the Dex-Cool coolant is also redish, with overflow bottle.  But these overflow bottle is about the size of 1 liter milk bottle.

    But on most cars, only the break fluid is pink (from the outside of the plastic bottle).  These "bottles" are only about the size of your fist.

    ===

    Actually brake fluid starts out clear.  But as they age, the slowly turn pink then brown.

    good luck...

  7. sounds like engine coolant. i know they do blue and green in coolant and clear and red in brake fluid. the smell should say it all!

  8. uh,...coolant. brake fluid doesn't come in orange. the "big orange bottle" should say right on it...COOLANT....or....BREAK FLUID....christ

  9. prob BRAKE fluid as coolant is normally blue, what car is it?
