Is the plastic packaging in cereal boxes recyclable?

Not the box itself, but the plastic bag the cereal comes in.

Is that recyclable? Yeah, it has food in it but it's easily wiped out. And if it is recyclable, what number plastic is it?

Thanks.

  1. yes it is !

just put it with your plastics !

unless you live in Texas and there is No recycling

    no blue box

no truck to pick up your glass

    nothing :(

  2. well, obviously, the answers here differ. probably because it depends on where you live.  for instance, when I lived in Brooklyn, the city was very clear about the fact that those liners COULD NOT be recycled (http://www.nyc.gov/html/nycwasteless/htm...  here in Miami Beach, the rules are a little less clear, but I'm pretty sure those plastic liners are still out, since they don't even accept the cardboard cereal boxes (http://www.miamidade.gov/dswm/curbside_r...  but other areas may have different rules.  the best way to be sure is to research your city's guidelines and/or contact your city's trash/recycling division.

  3. No, it's not. Buy cereal in bulk in reusable containers from a local food co-op.    :)
