ICC is in very serious discussions with cricket chiefs to save test cricket and make it more attractive for spectators.

  1. ITS NOT DESTROYING.ITS JUST CHANGING.AS TIME PASSES EVERYTHING CHANGES .WHY CAN'T A FIVE -DAY GAME CHANGE TO T20???

  2. Yes, People will get attracted to T20 that they would be bored watching the test matches.

  3. Yeah, Binga, but certin things ive read is that there in the MCCs pockets, its a worry.

  4. ICC should concern for ODI and not for Test due to T20 effects on batsman test match will be result oriented and will end in 3 to 4 days

  5. Hmmmm i dont think test matches will ever be challenged by any formats... We can really identify the talents and the temproment and stamina all at the time only in test matches.. we can say test matches became stronger when ODI's were introduced because the players played much more shots in test matches which produced more number of results... Now with T20's generating some inovative shots, test matches should go a head of every other formats in cricket.. I'm sure test matches will survive as long as cricket survives... We can see some intense battle between the players which will be good to see which does not happen inany formats of the game... In ODI's and T20's the team which plays better on the day wil win but in test matches its all about the consistancy and class over all the 5 days will get a team home... So i conclude that test matches will go a head wat ever formats arrive in cricket... Infact the arrival of T20's has boosted the test matches to be more interesting..In the future we can see lots of runs being made in quick time in test matches tooo....

  6. Cricket is entertainment.

T20 or test match, its cricket.

Whatever is the format of the game, it should be entertaining and should be a platform for our young domestic cricketers to prove their talents.

  7. maybe.

  8. Never going to happen. You keep forgetting England own cricket, not India.

  9. NO! Even though T20 games are very interesting and exciting to watch, I believe that it won't destroy the Test Match game, but the ODI game. I like T20's better than ODI's but I still enjoy watching a test match.

  10. Longer term, I actually think it will.  Shame really as an old cricketer the longer form of the game is the one that I appreciate most.  The skills, concentration and contest.  I am not sure that I would like too much done to the Test format.  It could easily affect the essence of the game.

T20 is something that has been contrived.  It caters for our time-poor lives.  All over done with in a couple of hours.

Don't get me wrong it can be exciting and I prefer it to the ODI's.  ODI's for me are played to a formula which bores the life out of me.

So in the longer run the popularity with players for the high paying T20 comps could well draw players from the Tests and that could affect the quality of the game.  I think that T20 will increasingly become young players game.

  11. No way. That's what people thought when ODI came in. ODIs and T20s are smaller formats of crcket and that's it. As long as there are cricket crazy nations like India and Pakistan I don't think Test cricket would die out. Come on, would you give up on your parents for your spouse and kid?

  12. it is a threat, but not so serious

  13. No i don't believe so..

There are too many 'naturalists' who love their Test Matches and i am one of them..I have been getting up around 4;30-5:00am to watch the last few hours of West Indies V's Australia on TV and also i have watched a little of New Zealand and England's Test Series....

I am not saying i don't like 20/20 matches-I do like them, every now and again, they are fun and fast and full of energy..My son went to the 20/20 at the MCG earlier this year,he had an absolute ball when he was there..it is good if you have young kids and you know they wont sit through a full day at the cricket..Plenty of pro's involved in 20/20 but i as i said prefer to watch a good Test Series or a OdI match....
