Hey there, first question ever.

I'm an avid fan of animes and I usually love to collect different objects from various series, recently I managed to gather up the 80 dollars (i'm paying in euros) to buy a full working stainless carbon steel model of tensa zangetsu, the sword of the protagonist in the Bleach anime series.

I only plan to keep this up for display purposes on my wall, but I find it somewhat distressing that it mentions that the sword is razor sharp and that the 49" blade can easily lop off someone's head.

I'm really lost here, is it legal for me to purchase this model from the US and possess it in my house?

  1. I think the only restrictions on weapons in the U.S. home are fully-automatic firearms (semi-automatic is OK) and explosives without a special permit for each, as well as certain accessories like silencers.  I think you have to be 18 to own swords and definitely 21 to own a handgun (but long barreled rifles are ok at 18).  If you live in an area that is known to have certain restrictions, I'd look up the laws.

  2. I cant tell you about non Alsakan laws, but it should be no problem. A man with a sword generally is not a threat to a man with a gun if you get my meaning. Besides Internet swords, unless from ebay, and only rarely even then, are only for display. If you should ever buy a real combat intended sword, send an email to kitsuneblacksmithing@yahoo.com and I will make one for you. Be warned, you will probably pay over $120 for it!
