I feel strongly that its the rsponsibility of each and everyone, the question is how?

The next question is, Is it will be efective working in Group?

or Individual?

If group how to make all to come to one place to work for it?

I like to get the Ideas from all the people who really love and work to save this earth, and not the people only like to talk on and about it.

  1. I feel strongly that protection of environment is the responsibility of each and every individual because they are having responsibility of providing a clean and healthy environment to their coming generations.

Until and unless an individual is taking responsibility on this, the government should take that responsibility.

Group starts from one! So, start working individually and a group will form automatically if your individual work prove its worthiness and impress the society.

  2. i tink that the Protection of the Environment is definitely the responsibility of all of us..

we should individually help to save the earth..

but if in group.. i think it's not necessary for all to come to a place and work for it..

it's also possible to make a website on the internet and we can discuss all our ideas 'bout saving the earth there..

  3. It is :OUR" responsibility to protect Environment.

As long as the Govt. is " by the people and for the people", the awareness about "Protection of Environment"  is taken care of, may be  not to the extent it should be.

Individually as citizens we should  take care of Planet Earth as we take care of our homes,

    thnks

  4. I agree the same. Each individual should have contribute, then only we could see major improvement on the protection.

But, the same time, Government also should make awareness to public to do the things.

  5. Both!

  6. i feel the same way. it's each and every person's responsibility! we use up the earth's resources, so we must have enough discipline to segregate our waste, conserve water and fuel, plant more trees, help with the population problem, recycle plastics... there are a lot of things to do. we owe the world a lot. as an individual, as a group, we can do something substantial.

  7. Both have to work at this problem. As individuals we must regroup and do something to influence the government, because ultimately the large companies are the major polluter by far. Some groups are starting to form and in a few years should be in a position to make a big difference. I am working with one to do my small part. www.regroupower.ca

  8. I work in the field and consider myself a public servant - not a bureaucrat.

I see both sides of this coin.  On the one hand we know that regulatory action by your government is a necessary and effective tool.  In addition the concept of enforcement is also necessary to promote deterrence and address harms against the people... particularly if there is a serious threat to the health of the people and the environment.

And make no mistake - despite how we are often characterized in the media - the vast majority of government employees I work with understand that we're working for you - the people - and we do it for a lot less money than we could make by not giving a dam.

I can't speak on behalf of the DMV.

But here's the state of things today:  Over the last 40 years we've done a decent job in this country regulating industrial sources - and yes there is still work to do on that front, but our greatest challenge facing the environment is the pollution generated by our combined, collective activities.

Things like driving - cars are the major pollution source in every major urban area.  Backyard burning, inneficient woodstoves, fireplaces, etc. are also major contributors in urban and rural areas.  Stormwater runnoff pollutes our rivers, lakes and streams - but where does that come from - not an illegal dump site - rather our roads, driveways, gutters and chemically laden lawns or agricultural operations.

But it would be nearly impossible to regulate the individual.  Imagine banning automobiles - the hatred and outcry that would generate!!!

Where I work we try to strike a balance.  We can go after industry to protect public health but for the things I mentioned above we try other methods such as education - getting the message out about individual behaviors.

This works to a point because, well you know not everyone does it, or can, or cares enough.  Talk radio likes to fight these efforts.

So we can try incentives - tax breaks for doing stuff... OK that's cool.  Then we can try getting grant money or offer loans for example to help people changeout their dirty woodstoves - or switch to a more efficient, cleaner and cheaper source of heat for their homes.  We can support programs that help weatherize homes.

We can take action and adopt standards for the things people use like automobiles.  California recently passed tough emission standards for new vehicles - tougher than the feds - and 13 other states have adopted those standards.

These are a few examples of the types of things that we can support as individuals in additon to taking our own actions!
