  1. It is a symbol of wealth in the respect that a man pays a lot of money for it for his bride, because he loves her, he's willing to pay for that ring, but also, it's worn on the finger that the romans believed had the vein in it connected directly to the heart, and it's also worn as a symbol that a woman is spoken for, and other suitors need not bother.

  2. No, it's a romantic representation of a formal agreement to get married. They traditionally cost about a month-three month's wages but you really should just pay what you can afford. If she loves you she won't care what it cost! Good luck!

  3. I think it's kind of a down payment.  It's like putting the "on hold" sign on a piece of merchandise.

  4. I think it is for the man to put a 'this gal is mine' sign on her, which in any case, the lady will not mind wearing.

  5. Only in certain vacuous circles....

In all others its a sign of everlasting love and committment

  6. No. It's the symbol of eternal commitment, love, and promises to be kept.

  7. No- how sad to even suggest that!!!!! It's a special ring to show your unconditional love for someone.

  8. haha well i guess you could say that it is one of the lasting symbols of wealth on the mans part that has lasted through history back from the times when the man had to take care of his wife since she didnt have any monetary income from staying home and running the household.  Also diamond companies have convinced us that diamonds are the essential measure of love so you must give your loved one a diamond as a symbol of that love.  Actually, ruby's would be worth more money than diamonds if there were no such things as diamond engagement rings - diamonds are expensive because of all those debeers comercials lol

  9. I Guess It Depends On How The Couple Sees It.

    Some May See It As..

*The Women Can Say To The World "Look How Much He Loves Me" Or "Look At How Much Money He Has".

*Symbolism Of "I'm Off The Market, Don't Hit On Me"

*Competition. Some Vein Women Would Compete With Their Friends On Who Has The Biggest, Prettiest & Most Expensive Ring.

*Purely Commitment. Some People Simply See It As "I'm Engaged, He Loves Me For Me".

I Can't Lie & Say I Don't Have A Nice Big Ring. It's Gorgeous, But They're Were Sooo Many More Bigger & Flashier Rings But I Wanted This One.

If My Fiance Gave Me A Plastic Ring From A Vending Machine, I'd Happily Wear That. To Me It's Just "He Loves Me So Much, We're Getting Married".

  10. No, it shows that he loves you and wants to be committed to you for life.

  11. No ...... its a sign of love, commitment and promise.

  12. i think the ring is a symbol of how much a man loves you.

of course i think this is stupid c**p, but i think other gals compare rings because of this.

i think rings are unimportant, i dont even wear ,mine.

  13. not hardly...my Husband brings alot more to the table than the $1700 ring he bought me! I called it my "insurance policy" until the day we got married I hope that your marriage consists of more than the monetary things in life because you never know when your going to be robbed! what is important is that if you had nothing but each other for the rest of your lives that you would still be happy when you woke up in the morning next to them. If that is why you are wearing his ring you will glow and people will notice that you fiance does that to you...not the bling on your finger!
