Is the rail station in Frankfurt near to the airport, or I have to have a taxi?

Answering you their is a Railstatin directly at the Frankfurt airport now and you do not have to shuttle to Frankfurt Main anymore.

If you are not at the airport and in the City than the Main would be better. Its much better now with the train station in the airport in Frankfurt now.

Taxis are expensive, good for short distances.

If you're talking about Frankfurt am Main airport, then yes, it is right close. If you mean Frankfurt Hahn--where all the cheap discount airlines fly into (mostly RyanAir acutally...), then no. You can take a shuttle into town for 8 euros and then you will be at the station. Otherwise, the train for long distance can be caught from the airport and the train at the airport will take you t the main station.

There is a train station for long distance trains to Amsterdam, Basel, Brussels, Cologne, Dortmund, Essen, Frankfurt, and Munich right at the airport, in addition to a local train station for trains getting you to Frankfurt Central station.

No need to take a taxi..

Rail Station is underneed the Airport, so you just need to take the escalator or the stairs.

From the main Station "Hauptbahnhof" you can take several trains to the "Flughafen" station.

If you take the S-Bahn, about 15 Min. to the Airport, you will arrive underground. Take 2 escalators to the departure area.

Or you take a "normal" train, like IC or ICE and you will arrive directly at the airport. There is a bridge over the autobahn-you need a 3-5 minutes walk to the departure area.

Best of all you go by train, the main railway station and the airport are really far from each other. On the other hand, the airport's got a railway station on it's own, lots of trains stop in both stations.
