Is the salary cap actually hurting the league?

I mean lets face it Edmonton is by far the best in attendance and fan support. And it isn't because it is a huge city like New York. Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and Montreal all are bigger cities with like half of the fan support. Without a salary cap edmonton would be able to draw some more 2nd string talent out of the NFL and improve the quality of the league. I'm sick of edmonton fans being punished our loyalty.

  1. I agree with league parity, I just think it is too low.  Kerry Joseph took a $125,000 pay cut to stay with the Riders.  It worked out, we won, but now he wants a huge raise and they just can't with the cap.

  2. So, you'd rather see a decrease in parity so that your team does better?  A tad biased, are we?

Personally, I think that the cap is a good thing.  With each team on a level playing field, it values smart spending over mass spending.  When the Riders and Bombers met in the Grey Cup final last year, it was a matchup between two teams that hadn't won the Cup since 1990.  If that doesn't speak to league parity, I don't know what does.

  3. Being an Argos fan I don't really like the salary cap, but I think it is good for the league to give some of the teams with less money a better chance to compete. Without it any given year Toronto could do what they did in 1991 and although I liked it as an Argos fan it is really not good for the league.

  4. Yeah, I agree that it's hurting the league. Salary cap should be changed.
