Question:

Is the schedule for my senior year going to be too much?

I really want to get into NYU. I'm going to be a sophmore this year, and for my freshman year, I took biology, English, Spanish 2, geometry, choir, world geography (required), and PE (required), and was one of the top grades in half of them, even though I slacked a lot (I did about 10 minutes of homework each night).

I expect to work a lot harder for my next three years, but I'm not sure if my course/other activities will be too stressful. By my senior year, I expect to be in:

AP English

AP Environmental Science

AP Statistics

AP Economics

Concert Choir (third highest choir)

AP Studio Art

Leadership

And also:

President of my SSA group

President of the key club (community service club)

Officer in CSF (more community service)

Redcross YES team (and more)

National Honors Society

Photo Club

  1. Maybe...AP is lookin  at 1-2 hours of HW a night..per class...more than 10 min eh? So you're looking at 5-10 of hw a night...have fun..but if you can handle stress and a big work load..go for it.

  2. Personally, yes, I think that's a lot. However, if you're planning to go to NYU, which is a prestigious school, taking all those APs and extracurriculers will definitely pay off in terms of your chances of getting accepted there.

When/if you have free time in school, try and get a head start on your homework then so you'll have more time for studying and relaxing when you get home.

  3. Me being a senior this year as well I am taking mostly easy classes, I am only taking hard classes in I class I really enjoy or a subject I am very good at. I am just trying to having a relaxing year despite all these college applications I have to do.
