It is a Baja50. I know nothing more. Help. Is it a good scooter for around town and to work? Will it last? Looking for someone who has one or knows 49cc scooters for advice.

  1. First off Kymco is not a Honda clone they manufactured engines for Honda's and other j*p makers. Scooters at pep boy are not worth the money. Some will not last to get them home. And you would be better looking at a Kymco they are the largest maker of scooters in the world and rated higher than all other brands except  Piaggio and Vespa.

  2. It is a Chinese Throwaway. No parts or service available.

  3. I don't know much about scooters but I'll tell you this, if you buy a scooter, DO NOT REMOVE FILL THE GAS TANK WITH BUBBLE SOAP TO SEE OF BUBBLES WILL COME OUT OF THE EXHAUST PIPE!!! I can;t emphasize enough how important it is that you don't do this.

  4. I don't know about Pepboys, but I have some general advice about scooters.

I owned a Kymco (Honda clone) scooter for two years in Taiwan, and it gave me no problem.  I only had to change the oil, get two new tires, and a new speedometer cable.

A 49 cc is incapable of more than about 30 mph, and you will burn out the engine if you drive for prolonged periods without stopping.  It will be OK for driving around the block for a loaf of bread, or 15 minutes in city traffic to work, but that's about it.  It will be too small to take a passenger.

Mine was a 125 cc.  It would go more than 60 mph on the highway, accelerate uphill, and carry a passenger.  It was still small enough to manhandle in crowded parking, and compact enough to pass stopped traffic on the right and park on the sidewalk.  You can do all that stuff in Taiwan.

If you want a lightweight scooter, I suggest you go for at least a 125.  You will need a special drivers licence for one that size.

Anything bigger than 125 cc and you might as well get a motorcycle.

  5. no, i see the add every sunday, very cheap but look at how cheap is it compaired to other brands, its TOO CHEAP QUALITY

i went into pepboys the other day

u cant by parts, and there plastic cheap quality, thats why you have never heard the name "baja motorsports" untill a couple years ago

  6. They are junk... they only last a month or two, if you're lucky..
