  1. When people work day-in, day-out for weeks and months on end, their performance level continues to drop and they become emotionally burned-out.

Health experts praise the benefits of a weekly time of rest. It's approximately twenty-four hours of physical recuperation. And certainly Sabbath observance provides that - a charging of our depleted batteries.

A day of rest should change our perspective. It relieves tension. It gives us a bit of energy to get a head start on the week.

Our day of rest should be a chance to revel in the satisfaction of having completed a week of honest, hard work.

Illustration: After a meal at an expensive restaurant, we don’t want to be rushed, we want to sit and enjoy the experience for a time. Our Sabbath should be like that.

The Sabbath is more than just a day of inactivity. It is an opportunity for us to examine ourselves.

Lee Iacocca credits his success as a businessman to his commitment to the Sabbath.

  2. The answerer that stated we should focus on the Messiah is correct:

Mat 12:8  "For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."

The Messiah existed before Abraham and He created all things:

John 8:58  Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am."

Col 1:16  For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-- all things have been created by Him and for Him.

Therefore the Messiah authored the Sabbath, He is the Master of the Sabbath, He created the Sabbath and He sanctified the Sabbath for His creation to keep.

John 14:15  "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

If we love the Messiah we will delight and observe His Sabbath.

Isa 58:13  "If because of the sabbath, you turn your foot From doing your own pleasure on My holy day, And call the sabbath a delight, the holy day of the LORD honorable, And shall honor it, desisting from your own ways, From seeking your own pleasure, And speaking your own word,

Isa 58:14  Then you will take delight in the LORD, And I will make you ride on the heights of the earth; And I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, For the mouth of the LORD has spoken."

Luke 1:68  "Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, For He has visited us and accomplished redemption for His people,

Many times the commandments of YHVH may seem difficult. However, throughout our entire lives as our love develops and grows for Him they become more and more a pleasure to keep. It all depends on what our hearts are set upon.

Deu 30:10  if you obey the LORD your God to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this book of the law, if you turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and soul.

Deu 30:11  "For this commandment which I command you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it out of reach.

BTW  Romans 10:13 was mentioned, it is a quote from Joel 2:32.

Rom 10:13  for "WHOEVER WILL CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED."

Joel 2:32  "And it will come about that whoever calls on the name of the LORD Will be delivered; For on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem There will be those who escape, As the LORD has said, Even among the survivors whom the LORD calls.

In the English versions the name "LORD" is substituted for YHVH, the Hebrew letters Yud He Vav He. YHVH gave His people the commandments including the Sabbath.

  3. Saturday/Sabbath is easy to keep.

  4. A day of rest is the least burdensome part of the Mosaic law. In fact in today's society a 6 day work week would be the hard part to keep, not finding a 7th day to rest. Alot of people wonder about which day it's supposed to be, or if it really matters, but no, keeping a day to rest isn't burdensome at all.

  5. I think all who don't keep it should be stoned like it says in the old test.

  6. it is burdensome.... i mean what kind of evil being gives a day off every week from work?

  7. Why not focus on Jesus instead of 'the sabboth'??  (Seems that you are always speaking of 'this' and we are in Jesus' Grace Period now for the 1000th time!!) You have already chosen to block out Jesus and only focus on a 'day'!!  Get over it and invite Jesus into your heart!!  (Romans 10:9-13)
