  1. Well, not from the snake's viewpoint.

Maybe snake's wax philosophical when they're sitting in the sun soaking up the rays or cooling in the shade waiting for prey, and wonder why mice don't grow on trees, why some snakes have nifty horns and not others, and why god went and spoilt it all by making humans any way . . . of course, humans do make those nice asphalt roads which are so lovely warm at night . . . but then they go and drive those big smelly things on them and squash snakes who are just minding their own business and soaking up some nice residual heat . . .

  2. Not at all. It has evolved a good form of locomotion across sand. Try racing one across soft sand sometime.

  4. No - if it were it would not have survived.

  5. Aren't they the snake that must live in the deserts, LC?

If I"m right, they must have evolved to sidewind because it is easier to climb the sand dunes. Climbing hill straight up is like.......Hard.
