If so, how can they monitor that all schools implement this system?

  1. Not at all - and we don't have a pledge of allegience or anything like that either. Children in this country are trained to think for themselves.

  2. No it's not compulsory. I'm now in year ten at an Australian high school and I've never had to sing it. However I did find this on wikipedia.

    Compulsory National Anthem

The Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre has strongly opposed the compulsory singing of the Australian national anthem in schools.

NSW Premier Morris Iemma wants to make it compulsory for NSW schoolchildren to sing the national anthem each day before class. The plan has strong support from both sides of Parliament in Tasmania as well as the Multicultural Council of Australia and the Australian National Flag Association.

However some Aboriginal support groups say forcing the singing of the national anthem diminishes individual enthusiasm for participation.

Michael Mansell says, "more importantly, the anthem is about the white people and immigrants and excludes Aborigines." He said the words "for we are young and free" were a clear reference to the last 200 years of colonisation by Europeans and dismissed the ownership of the country by Aboriginal people.

So I'd say it definitely is not compulsory. I'm Australian and I've never heard of anyone else that's Australian being forced to sing it at schools either.

  3. No, it's not compulsory to sing Advance Australia Fair in all school in Australia.

My reference to back up my statement...I'm Australian and went to school in Australia and my daughter is in school. She does not sing the national anthem at school.

The only time we sung the national anthem in school was during the Anzac Day assembley. There is no need to monitor that all schools implement the system because there isn't a system there. Again...my reference...I'm Australian.

  4. no is not compulsory u will sing u country antherm u can not sing 4 order pple so dat is why they do not moniton our country

  5. when i was in primary school the whole school sung it,however on one school parade it was all sung but i did'nt sing i was pulled up and given a detention by the teacher, when i was in high school we did not sing it,a student would either play it by flute or sing it in front of the whole school, while the whole school just all stood up and listened to it

  6. no my school does it all the time there is no problem

  7. No. It's not compulsory.

  8. No its not.

  9. I do not know of any school in Brisbane that sings the national anthem unless they are having the Prime Minister or Governor General coming. When I was younger we sang it, but that was God Save the Queen'. These days a lot of private schools have their own school song.

I do not know from which country you come from but in Australia we are fairly relaxed and I do not believe there is any 'Big "Brother watching who is singing what.

On Saying this most Australians are very loyal to the country and do not need to be made to sing a song to demonstrate it.
