Is the site www.golfballselector.com worth trying? I was thinking about doing it to find a new ball.

I have hit the Nike Mojo and Maxfli Noodle over ther past few years.

  1. Not at all.  They are going to charge you around $30 for a "ball fitting."  If you MUST have a ball fitting done, go to a reputable golf shop.  They will analyze your swing and recommend a ball to you for around $20 and will usually give you a trial sleeve of the recommended ball to try on your next round.  Most of the time these websites are sponsored by a manufacturer, and they recommend those balls 90% of the time regardless of the information.

Reality is that unless you are a really good golfer, the ball you play won't matter that much.  You won't notice much difference between a Slazengger Distance ball ($10 per dozen) and a ProV1 ($45 per dozen).

About 2 weeks ago I played in a 4 man scramble with some people from church, one of whom is a teenager who's been playing for about a year and has broken 100 once.  He showed up to play with a brand new pack of Nike One Platinum balls.  After he put 3 balls (around $12) in the water after 3 holes, he put them away and pulled out some cheaper balls to use the rest of the day.  The point is, unless you are a really good golfer, spending money on more expensive balls is a waste.

  2. I have to believe no its not worth it.  Your better off buying a few balls and playing a few rounds.  Its an internet site, how can they determine what ball you need/want, based on answers to a few questions.  Isnt that gargbage in, garbage out?
