With all due respect to the tragedy in Sudan, the situation in Russia is far worse.

The population growth rate is -0.474%. The birth rate is 11.03 births/1,000 population. The death rate is 16.06 deaths/1,000 population. The average Russian woman has 1.4 children born/woman.

The death rate is actually higher in Russia. The population of Russia was 145 million in 2002, and it stands today at 140 million. They are losing nearly a million people a year. The country with the second most nuclear arms in the world is in the midst of a death spiral. The Rand corporation predicted that by 2015, Russia wouldn't have enough young men to protect it's vast border or maintain internal security.
