Is the size of the Pacific Ocean increasing or decreasing?

I learned in science that the Pacific Ocean is either increasing or decreasing in size by a couple of inches of year. Which one is it?

  1. since water levels are rising i would guess it's getting larger.


  2. Decreasing, as the North American continental plate moves westward and the Pacific plate subducts beneath. Meanwhile, the Atlantic ocean is getting wider as the North American plate is moving away from the Eurasian plate as ocean crust is being formed along the mid-continent rift.

  4. it is increasing, because the solid ice melting down due to global warming!

  5. global warming has caused a large amount of land masses in cold areas like the Alaska and  Antarctica to melt so I believe that the water levels are most likely rising.
