  1. NO - always wear swimming trunks ! Last time i went cabo , I was nearly arrested !

  2. Hola.  Because the Pacific ocean meets with the Sea of Cortez right at Cabo, the swimming and snorkeling can be a bit rough (compared to the bathtub of the carribean!)  But that's okay, we have lots of little bays that offer great snorkeling opportunities.

Although we have no natural reef in Cabo, we do have some pretty spectacular fish.  The best places to view them is at Santa Maria and Chileno bays.  Most of the tour groups offer trips to both locations by boat and bus.  Lots of people swim in and around lovers beach too.  It depends on where you are staying.  Most of the beaches in front of the resorts are too rough for swimming on some days.

  3. Yes, it's pretty good. I would recomend you to go to Santa Maria Bay  which is in the corridor, there are no resorts near by so, you can either take the SUBURCABOS, which is the bus that runs along the corridor from Cabo to San Jose, you can take a taxi or rent a car.

You might want to rent a car, because there is another beach called Chileno Bay, it's also in the corridor and is really good for snorkeling. Something  you also need to know is that there are no lounge chairs or restaurants on those beaches so make sure you pack lots of drinks and some snacks. The only place were you can find palapas or something to protect you from the sun is in Chileno.

And maybe if you want to avoid all the hastle you can take a snorkeling tour on a catamaran, it's a boat that parts from the Marina in Cabo and they take you to Chileno and/or Santa Maria to snorkel for like and hour or 45 minutes and it includes lunch on the way back and open bar during the whole cruise, which is like 3 or 4 hours. The prices are between 30 to 45 usd, depending on the boat. Oh! and they provide the gear too!

There's another place on the way to the arch which is where you can snorkel but you necesaraly need to take a glass bottom boat to get there. That one is cheaper. 10 usd per person. OK, well hope this info helps! And don't forget to take tortilla chips or bread to feed the fish, they'll be all around you! Have fun!

  4. Yes.  No.

  5. Yes, There is some very good snorkeling here.  The best spots are a little north of the town of cabo on the Sea of cortez side.  I have been to two very good spots and I am sure there are others.  One spot I know by name is Santa Maria Bay.  This spot can be very busy though because snorkeling boats bring in other snorkelers by the boat load ;) Any hotel you stay at should be able to recommend good spots to go or help you get signed up with a guided tour.  I highly recommend going when you are down there, lots of colorful fish to see, you wont be disappointed.
