Is the soundbar better then surround sound systems?

If you mean the single unit surround speaker system vs a true surround system with multiple speakers ... I don't think anyone would say "better", but the results can be fairly good, and for people not wanting to clutter up the room with speaker boxes they can be a viable option.

Like anything, it really comes down to your views. I'd suggest listening and deciding for yourself.

NO.   It's not even close.

If you go from just TV speakers to a soundbar, it's better.

But there's no surround system that doesn't blow any soundbar away.
