Is the spiked hairstyle for men really considered a good one?

To me it looks awful. Everyone was telling me that I should get this haircut because I have a more natural haircut with bangs. But where I live in the South- most young men have that too.

Is the spiked hair /gelled a more Northeast thing? I think its an awful haircut and I wonder why its so popular in the North and out in Hollywood.

yuck.. i'm with you. i think it's awful. it's so outdated. i think the best hairstyle on a guy is a buzz cut :) soo cute. haha.

And you are right, it most definitely would NOT suit you, (although I would love you to get a more layered cut than you currently have).

I think it was around 2000 that the spiked hairstyle emerged as a trendy option. I remember seeing it for the first time on little children and thinking how much it detracted from their otherwise lovely faces. And adult men with their hair sticking up in those ridiculous little tufts just look silly. I dislike dealing with professionals (eg solicitors) who sport that style - I find it tremendously difficult to take them seriously.

I like your far more natural hairstyle. But I would like it even better with a little more layering (NOT spiked) through the top.

Well I lived in Holland last year and EVERYONE HAS IT!!! I usually have pretty long hair, so one day when I got it cut hairdresser asked if I wanted gel, so I just yeah why not try it. I HATE IT! Hair looks very greasy and unnatural. Hard to wash out too.

No, I don't like it at all. I think it's totally unattractive. It looks cheap. Plus, I don't like guys that use more hair products than me. It's weird.
