I was looking to purchase my first paintball gun and would like to know what people thought of the mr1, mr2, and mr3 spyder electronic paintball guns. I don't want to get a gun that is too expensive because i don't know if i would really like to get serious about paintball, but i dont want a cheap gun that i would want to replace in a few months, or for it to break and have to buy a whole new paintball gun. thanks

  1. Try a spyder sonix pro i hav one its great

  2. The MR1 is a nice and reliable marker, the MR2 and MR3 start out mace but you soon start having Issues with them losing screws then parts on the field.  I had two of them and both lost several screws during play.  The marker has a big kick when firing so as to cause the screws to loosen.  If you are looking for a tactical style marker go with the Tippman A5.  If you have a smaller budget then the Tippmen 98 is a good starter.    If you are looking for a good marker but don’t care if it looks like a military gun, the Invert Mini is a great investment.  For a smaller budget you can go with the Smartparts ION SE.  Great markers.

  3. I have 12 years of playing experience and have owned 5 different brands of markers. First off Spyder's are good beginner markers, primarily because of they are easy to use and maintain. But they are cheap so performance is not great. With some upgrades you could make a Spyder a good performer, but why put that money into upgrades when you can start with a better marker for about the same price and get much better performance out of the box. If you are looking for a MILSIM marker then I would recommend the TIPPMANN Model 98 or the A-5. Tippmann's are VERY reliable and you can beat them all to h**l and they keep working. However you would need to upgrade the barrel etc to get better performance. If you are going to be playing Speed-ball I would recommend the Smart Parts ION. These markers are very capable right out of the box. Some upgrades can improve the marker but aren't necessary if you don't want to. Either way you go just remember that once you get out there take a look at what everybody else is using and ask questions, even ask if they would mind you shooting their marker. Most people will let you, and then you can begin taking notes on what you like and don't like so you can either get needed upgrades or buy a newer marker once you get into the sport. Good Luck, and remember to have fun.
