Question:

Is the stencil necessary?

I want to get a tattoo soon. I do know exactly what I want to get, but for me to get an accurate image of the tattoo, I would have to buy the image and download it (which I don't want to do). The actual image is included along with the stencil of the tattoo. Is the stencil necessary for me to get the tattoo?

  1. Not necessarily. Your artist could freehand with marker, or he might make his own stencil by tracing your picture over the stencil paper.

I would however suggest finding an artist that will look at the picture you want online and redraw it and make it your own. The images you're looking at are called flash art and it means a lot of people may have that same tattoo. Tattoos should be unique and have personal meaning to you. So just tell the artist what you want and have him draw you something fresh that you want even more.

  2. no, as long as your tattoo artist its good.

  3. s***w unique. If you want a clean tattoo, make your artist make you one and he will apply in to your skin

  4. I agree with james! you want your piece to be every bit as unique as you are

  5. A competent artist can draw anything. show them the pic on the website you are going to...you will not get points for originality by picking things out of magazines and websites though, have a custom piece drawn then its all yours.

  6. i'd say don't get one that you need a stencil with. have it drawn up for you (by someone you know, yourself or a tattoo artist). I hate stencils and would never get a tattoo that had to be done that way on me. I'd go for something more original that you wont find on another person's body.

    good luck!!!
