  1. Did you ask this the other day? Someone did.

The colour of the lettering indicates it's Pet Smart, but I think the idea of making it all one word means it can be that OR Pet's Mart.

    Chalice

  2. ITs not supposed to be either, they do that for that reason.

  3. It's just like the sign says:  PETSMART.  No spaces, no apostrophes.  One word.  Petsmart.

  4. i always thought it was, Pet Smart. Like its a smart place to shop for pets. that is just my opinion though

  5. I think they purposely made it so it could be one of two things: either "Pets' Mart" or "Pet Smart".

  6. its actually pet smart like to be smart about your pets. so yeah i dont think its about you :)

  7. I have been wondering that for years

  8. I would say it started out as both. It was almost a play on words. If you look at the history time line on the Petsmart website, which talks about how they went from a warehouse to a store selling pets and items, it states:

    (under 1989)

"We’re not just a warehouse anymore; we’re a MART for PETs that’s SMART about PETs. So it’s only fitting that we change the name and logo of our stores from PetFood Warehouse to PETsMART."

The name is now Pet Smart, as stated in the 2005 area of the timeline, which reads as follows:

"With our vision to provide Total Lifetime Care for all pets and their pet parents, and our knowledgeable associates and services that differentiate us from other pet retailers, it’s finally time to clear one thing up: we’re PetSmart. We move away from the “mart” mentality and our focus is on providing “Smart” solutions and information."
