Is the story of Moses really just a rehash of the story of Sargon?

"The image of Sargon as a castaway set adrift on a river resembles the better-known birth narrative of Moses. Scholars such as Joseph Campbell and Otto Rank have compared the 7th century BC Sargon account with the obscure births of other heroic figures from history and mythology, including Karna, Oedipus, Paris, Telephus, Semiramis, Perseus, Romulus, Gilgamesh, Cyrus, Jesus, and others....."

  1. To be honest with you, I think every story in the bible is a rewrite of an older one. I am sure that who they are about were real people. They just took an older story, and put them in it. Everything about Jesus was written many years after his death. Almost every story in any religion is a story that started with Gilgamesh. If you read any story about him, you can find a similar story about any other person in there story's. Everything started with the Babylonians.

  2. No chance! Perhaps the other way around?

Moses is not a legend, he is a historical figure, like Abraham Lincoln. Moses really lived, affected history, history can be traced seamlessly from his time. The people alive during his time had offspring, some today can trace their descent from people living then.

  3. Could be. If you look at all the legends and religions, many do have very close story lines. Look at hercules' life. Similar to Jesus' life. Buhdda and the prophet Mohammad. There lives and enlightenments coinside. The Egyptian religion and the revival of the Jewish religion. Even the flood of the bible of Noah is repeated world wide in many countries prior to the Christian movement. It is very possible. You also have to remember that all the translations of the past have been more correctly translated today. Many of these "myths" are renamed differently due to the area they were told and the accent as well as the language of that area. So, since all of them are close in the timelines (by a couple of hundred years) the names could have changed because of language translations and cultural events. I like the way you think. Good job.
