  1. It is a bit dated in some cases, but it will depend on the house.  It will still suit a traditional property, as long as it isn't that hideous orange colour and you are looking at original doors.  However, dark wood - wenge, walnut etc, or laquered surfaces in bold colours are a more fashionable and contemporary option and can look fabulous.  If you want to go wild and you can afford, leather looks amazing, too.  If you want a very contemporary look, go for really tall doors, and stylish, modern door furniutre.  Of course, these styles will also date over time, so if you want to be on the safe side, you can't go wrong with plain white; just dress it up with contemporary door handles, and it will look nice and slick.

  2. I think whatever you have, it should be well made and not stick out as being emphatically from one decade. If that's true, and you like it, I don't think you can go wrong. I don't think pine is outdated, but if it's cheap particle board coated with a wood veneer, it probably won't stand the test of time.

  3. Is it knotty pine?  Unless u have a log cabin then, i don't think u like it.  If it has a nice wide sporadic grain, it is totally in style.  You can always paint a grain on it.  Look at Home depot and ask the paint people there.  They usually know what they are doing.  I was going to replace my door, cause I "Thought " it was cheap.  Turns out it was solid Mahogany.

  4. I don't know if it's out dated but i personally like the look.  Or I also like the Red door look too with some black trimming
