Question:

Is the sun closer to England than China?

My chinese friend insists it is. But it sounds ridiculous to me. She says thats why you can stare at the sun in china but not england...

    northern china is level with southern england, so on average china is closer.

    the climate difference is due to the gulf stream ( we should really be a cold snowy place like newfoundland), and the maritime weather we enjoy.

    as for staring at the sun, i do in england, for a few seconds at least, but it is hard.

    i suspect the pollution thing is the key.

  3. you can stare at the sun in china cos of the smog and pollution in the air, the sun is so far away from us a few hundred miles difference wont be anything. look at a globe.

  4. England is slightly farther north than China, so no, it's the other way around. Not that you'd notice a couple of hundred miles when what you're looking at is around 93,000,000 miles away!
