  1. The Sun is an imperfect sphere, just like Earth.

  2. no its a sphere. And if you're wondering if the earth is flat, then just go back to your cave.

  3. what are you on!

  4. Are you related to Columbus's crew?

  5. Why would you ask that question? It would be easier to look it up instead of showing a lack of common sense. Its actually a triangle made of cheese.

  6. What the h**l do they teach in schools these days??!!

  7. Eh!

  8. http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/

everything you ever need to know about the Sun.....

  9. Well....it takes about 25 days for the sun to rotate on its axis (at the equator).  So watch the sun for the next 25 days and let us know whether you see a sphere rotating or a disc flipping over onto the other side.

  10. omy obviously its a sphere!

i personally haven't but astronauts will have!

  11. Well even if we did not have telescopes, space exploration, scientific advances and a basic understanding of gravity, you might still deduce that the Sun was a sphere because every so often you can see sunspots crosing the sun's face.  Far easier to explain this as due to a sphere (with the Earth rotating around it) than by any other means.  The ancient Greeks worked this much out over 2000 years ago.

As for anyone seeing it at close up, it was Icarus who got the closest (but I don't think he survived to tell the tale).

  12. its sphere like earth and all the stars are just suns

  13. no!!!!!its a sphere

  14. Actually, the Sun is a sphere.

  15. No. its a massive burning ball of lava. it is so hot that the very inside of it is made of iron and in about 200 billion years it will finally burn itself out and cause a giant supernova killing all life in the milkyway. Although the sun is massive (200 milliom km), it is only a medium sized star!

  16. How could anyone see it 'close up', if nobody's ever been closer than the orbit of the Earth to view it?

For the past several years, there's been a solar probe ('Ulysses'), which has been in a polar orbit around the sun. It's given us detailed information about the north and south poles of the sun, which have never been seen by us at these angles (directly 'above' and directly 'below' each pole).

  17. no... it's a ball of gas.

  18. I have seen the sun as close up as most everyone else.  Also, like everyone else, I have seen all 360degrees around the sun.

  19. What a stupid question..., what planet have you been living on lately?.... its a sphere. wake up mate...!

  20. it's a sphere.
