  1. It depends on the breed. Some breeds have marked differences between the temperments of the males and females.

  2. Temperament is strictly a matter of individual dog, breeding, and training, not really dependent on the s*x of the dog.

  3. I have had both and when you are dealing with spayed and neutered animals, there is little difference in temperament.  There are differences in behavior (males will lift their legs to mark for example or an intact male wandering off to look for mates) but temperament is much more a product of the breed and the individual dog and it's personality than s*x.  With intact animals, you may have some additional issues with sexual dominance, especially with certain breeds, but again it depends a great deal on the individual personality of the dog.

Think about it in humans  - there are laid-back easy going guys, passive women and assertive men and women.  The individual matters more than the s*x.

  4. Males, especially if left unneutered, will mount, mark, and wander.

    Females, left intact, will bleed.

As far as personalities, I have not noticed my males, or my females being more of something than the others.

However, temperament, is a direct result of training, guidance, genetics, breeding, and experiences.

My eldest female (intact) is the dominant one, my youngest male (neutered), the most submissive (he submissive urinates around me!), the youngest female (intact), is the most aggressive, while my eldest male (intact), is just... calm.  It can go either way.

  5. i do not think either is better than the other, but they definitely act a little different from each other, just like men and women act different, but a dog is a dog, and both male or female dogs are great in all the same ways, if altered (neuter spayed). You must do this to have both sexes act great, otherwise, only intense training will break them of their s*x-related habits. (ie marking, humping(which girls do too), dominating and wandering)

  6. Yep thats all true just like with humanes the male is the more dominate aggressive one its the same with animals.

  7. females are better temperament wise but if u got a puppy and the pup is female then u will have biting problems but if u got a male dog and a female pup will go great together. male dog with male dog dont go really well. hope this helped

  8. If your dog has been fixed it will likely be somewhat tamer, not necessarily but I have noticed it in many dogs.  I think that females tend to be a bit bitchy in the park male dogs can be more dominant I think its all upon the owner and training what makes a well adjusted dog

  9. There is no standard between the genders.  Males CAN be more clingy, and less independent.  Females CAN be easier to work with, and less "dense".

However, for the most part, it's personality based in general.  Like all things dog (and human) there's some generalizations, but nothing set in stone.
