Is the thumb a finger?

Lots of people say the thumb is a finger. I agree. But some people say that it isn't.

So is it a thumb or a finger

unlike the other fingers which share a common name eg pointer finger, middle finger etc - this finger has a special name - THUMB!

its now commonly accepted as such.

a thumb is a thumb, because it is opposable (sic) it gets its own designation. They are all digits, though.
