  1. The Tin Man's trainer said because of the short time between races that he and the owners wouldn't race him in the BC. I heard that he is going to run in a stakes race in early November.

  2. will stay home and watch it like you and i

  3. He is turned out to pasture at this time. He may not return to the track.

  4. No he was not nominated.  Trainer Richard Mandella offered the following reason after his last start:

“Three weeks is not enough time,” Mandella added. “If he’d have won (the Hirsch) by as much as he lost, that would have made my decision harder.”

  5. You may look at the field for the Breeders' Cup Classic and think, Haven't we seen this before?

    The answer is yes.

The $5-million Classic, which runs Saturday, Oct. 27 (5:30 p.m. ET), features several familiar names from this year's Triple Crown races. Considering how entertaining those contests were for race fans, we should be happy for a reprise. The top three betting favorites from the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes are among the 16 horses entered for the race at Monmouth Park, N.J.

Street Sense, Hard Spun and Curlin lead the 3-year-olds into the Classic, which also features notable 4-year-olds Awesome Gem and Lawyer Ron. With Breeders' Cup Classic odds of 3/1, Curlin and Lawyer Ron are the co-favorites with horse racing bettors. Street Sense is at 4/1 and Hard Spun is at 6/1.

It's one of the best fields put together. You've got speed, stamina, soundness and class. The 3-year-olds have beaten each other and no one has buried anyone else in this field.

Another 3-year-old horse who will be closely watched next week during the final workout sessions is Tiago, the winner of the Goodwood Handicap and Swaps Stakes. Although he was only seventh at Churchill Downs in May, Tiago (15/1) has bounced back with a solid effort late in the racing season as he prepares for the richest race in the sport.

Likewise, Any Given Saturday comes off wins in the Brooklyn Handicap, Haskell Invitational and Dwyer Stakes after finishing eighth in the Derby. At 7/2, he is getting serious attention from Classic bettors.

  6. No. His next race will probably be at Hollywood Park in Nov.

  7. No, after the Hirsch Turf Memorial at Oak Tree his trainer said there wasn't enough time for him to recover and prepare for the Breeder's Cup. The Tin Man had enough points accumulated to have gone to the Breeder's Cup but will pass up the Breeder's Cup this year.
