Apparently, the cost should include everything, from the plane ticket, the travel between 5 cities, hotel accomadations, food, souvenirs, etc. What is the average total cost for a Spain vacation? We are planning to travel from Sept 17-29. Is that a good time? We have not booked yet, but should book soon.

  1. From where?

It sounds a litlle expensive, but not too much if it's from the States. That's where I live, but I go back to my parent's in Spain quite often.

    Have fun.

  2. I live in the bay area and just got back from a 2 week trip to Spain with 2 friends.  The total cost of the trip for me was about $3500.  I went in July and my flight from SFO to Madrid (stopped in Philadelphia) was $1000.  We didn't go crazy on the hotel rooms--we shared rooms in every city and stayed in moderate, safe places in good locations we booked on the Internet ahead of time and had great luck with. Not worth spending a lot on hotels as you hopefully will be out and about during the day and probably most of the night (you'll eat dinner around 10-11 at night and if you go out, it's not unusual to come home around 5 am) We did some research and it was cheapest for us to fly from city to city within Spain (Span air) as opposed to taking a train ---plus it saved tons of time.  We flew from Madrid to Bilbao, Bilbao to Barcelona, Barcelona to Sevilla.  We also took coach buses from Bilbao to San Sebastian and from Sevilla to Granada and from Seville to Lisbon (we flew out of Lisbon). If you can make it to Portugal as well I would highly recommend it.  It is surprisingly different.  Very beautiful, the people are very friendly, beautiful sights to see...Total transportation costs within Spain were probably around $450.  How much you want to spend on food and souvenirs etc. is up to you and your habits, tastes etc.

  3. It sound ok depending on the types of hotels, what kind of transportation, restaurants.  Spain is the most touristed country in the world - or at least it used to be - so they are well developed for the traveler.  It is hardly necessary to go on an organized tour.  For that legnth of time it's cheap if you are going all first class.  OK for average and expensive for a budget trip.  Whoever wrote it costs 1K to fly ther is nuts.  Maybe on a last minute fare.  Plan in advance and look around and you should get a fare of around $300 - 600 from the East coast and $400 - 800 from the West.

  4. If you can do all of that for three grand, that is a steal.

I've been to Spain twice, and the airfare alone is at least a thousand dollars.  Then you factor in the hotel: assume $200 per room per night for a 3-4 star hotel.   Internal travel, either by plane or train is going to be at least another $500.   Finally, food and souvenirs:  assume you're spending a hundred dollars a day.

    So for two people:

    Air:  $2000

    Hotel:  $2600

    Internal Travel: $1000

    Food/Souvenirs: $2600

    Total:  $8200.

Spain is totally worth the expense, though;  it is a beautiful country, with friendly people, and excellent food.

  5. www.cheapfares.com will give you the best prices for all airlines. It also will give you rates on hotels, car rentals, etc.

I've found this to be a great sight for comparative prices and finding good deals.

Good luck and wish you the very best in finding a Great Price.
