  1. yes it is , most of the time , however a 6 wing will start with lower  windpower specialy with smaller windmills . but the best design is still the 3 wing .

  2. sorry i cannot help u

  3. i would think that a 12 winged turbine(4 3 winged turbines stacked on top of each other)would be pretty good a better 1 would be to complex to explain

  4. A single blade is the most efficient airfoil-I've been told! Most are two blade for balancing reasons mostly. Three blades gather more than two and have less friction than four, twenty, fifty, etc. Two distinctly different schools of thought follow-one for driving, one for driven. You're asking about driven. Wind vectoring off a turbine blade (doesn't matter(( too much!))  how many) has more to do with mass of air deflecting off square footage of surface and resultant vector aligning with axis of generator to reduce friction. Other stuff, too.

Makes me wonder why I'm all alone as a "fan"(Pun intended!)of vertical turbines, opposite of windmills which are horizontal.

And why do they "feather" the blades in high wind when a hydraulic pump can prevent overspeed? Great question!

  5. The most efficient way for utilities to use gas or oils is in a combined-cycle system, which combines two means of producing electricity. Hot gases from the combustion chamber spin the gas turbine and the generator to make electricity. The system then pipes the still-hot exhaust gases leaving the combustion turbine to a 'waste heat' steam boiler where their heat produces steam. The steam turns a turbine, connected to a second generator, to produce electricity. Condensers convert the steam to water that returns to the boiler to repeat the cycle.

Because steam turbines can be built larger than gas turbines, a combined cycle system often uses several gas turbines to feed hot exhaust to one steam boiler.

A conventional steam electric power plant converts fossil fuels – coal, gas or oil –- into electric energy. Steam plants generate most of the electricity in the United States.

  6. It is not the effective design for producing electricity because there are other sophisticated ways of producing electricity which are faster and enormous amount of megawatyts are produ9ced.e.g the Nuclear power, by means of coal and water bodies.

  7. The world's largest turbines are manufactured by the Northern German companies Enercon and REpower. The Enercon E112 delivers up to 6 MW , has an overall height of 186 m (610 ft) and a diameter of 114 m (374 ft). The REpower 5M delivers up to 5 MW , has an overall height of 183 m (600 ft) and a diameter of 126 m (413 ft).
