Is the train the only means of transportation between Pisa and Venice/Venezia?

Hi guys, any Italian or anybody in Italy to answer me this?

Trenitalia bloody rip off of 40 eur scared me while planning my trip to Italy with my gf. I plan to arrive on Ryanair into Pisa (22/02) and then leave from Venice airport (22/05). Does anybody know if there is such a thing as Eurolines but just within Italy, to take me from one city to the other?

  1. I believe there is road, train and sea transport.been there by train years ago, sure I remember cars running along the rail line

  2. There are coach networks.

But the train price isn't bad.  How much would you pay here from Bristol to say Peterborough?  It's at least 8 hours travelling.

  3. 40 euro isn't unreasonable for a trip between Pisa and Venice mostly on Eurostar. There are no budget airlines between the two.

However, you can go on the trains for 18.70 euro. You need to use the regional trains rather than Eurostar. A ticket from Pisa to Florence is 5.40 euro, from Florence to Bologna is 5.10 euro, and from Bologna to Venice is 8.20 euro. You'll take longer to get there and have an extra train change. You need to plan this as a point-to-point trip on the Trenitalia site to work out the schedule.

  4. Check the website of the italian railroad: www.trenitalia.it

    You can find lower fares.
