  1. To my knowledge, no.  Only the higher end carbon bikes are made in the U.S.  Look for the sticker on the seat tube that says "Made in USA"  not "Designed in USA" to determine the origin.  If you're looking for an all-American bike, cannondale is probably the largest completely american made manufacturer.  Surly also is an american company that makes nice bikes.  Schwinn and Specialized are also american but generally have most of their manufacturing done overseas.

  2. I wouldn't worry about the frame being made in Taiwan. They have modern factories and state of the art manufacturing.

Shimano's wheel factory (where everything's hand built) is in Taiwan. FSA's headquarters is in Taiwan. I could go on but I'm sure you get the point.

It's nice to buy American but I don't know if you can do it in this case because we live in such a global economy.

  3. michael c, only higher end aluminum c-dales are made in the usa. here's an interesting read on where bikes are from. another user posted this recently as well..

  4. no, they are imports.  Anything that has Trek's TCT logo is imported from Taiwan.  You'll need to go up to a Madone 5.2 to get American made...

It's like I tell my customers, you can buy a carbon fiber bike that some chinese guy made, or you can buy a carbon fiber bike that a mexican guy made...

  5. i would suggest cannondale. I have the cannondale chase and not only is it made in the U.S. its handmade! just look for the sticker like another answerer said and make sure it says made in the U.S. not designed.

  6. Nope, treks are made in china

  7. 99% of all bike frames are made in China / Taiwan...
